VARESE – The World Cup of Racice in the Czech Republic is over and now the World Rowing Federation (WRF) has met to decide the new calendar of world commitments in the three-year period between 2024 and 2026. The WRF has decided to award the first stage of the 2024 World Cup to the city of Varese.

Schiranna still World Championship

The news was reported by the Organising Committee of the International Rowing Championships with an official note, which we report below.

It is with great pleasure that we announce that in the meeting it was decided to assign to Varese, always the driving force of this sport, the first stage of the 2024 World Cup that will take place at Schiranna on the weekend between Friday 12 and Sunday 14 April.

The season will lead to the Paris Olympics scheduled between July and August, therefore, the international event will bring on the Varese lake the most important world athletes ready to test themselves in view of the Olympic event.

Varese therefore continues its great rowing tradition: after the extraordinary successes of 2022 (European Under19 and World Under23 & Under19), in 2023 it will be the turn of the second stage of the World Cup and, at this point we can say officially, 2024 will also be no exception.

«We are very happy to be able to continue our path linked to the great events on Lake Varese», says Davide Galimberti, President of the Organizing Committee. «This is once more a sign of appreciation of the excellent work done. And for Varese it will open further opportunities for economic and tourist development». An important sign of continuity that consolidates Varese in the international rowing elite and certifies the work of the Organizing Committee.
