GALLARATE – From April to June, school canteens in Gallarate provided 475 free meals to Ukrainian children, for a total of 2189 euros. Like many other municipalities in the area – and not only – the administration of the mayor Andrea Cassani has taken steps to welcome families fleeing the war, especially women and children. Now they draw the sums of the services offered. And with the state of emergency still in progress (until December 31), it is also necessary to take some further measures for when children go back to school in September. Starting from the meal rates in the canteens.

The rates for the canteen

«Because of the emergency in Ukraine and in order to provide relief and assistance to the Ukrainian population in Italy, the city of Gallarate has implemented a series of measures such as providing free school meals to Ukrainian children». This is what the resolution approved by Gallarate’s city Council states. The resolution redefines the costs of pre and after-school care, as well as canteen services that will support Ukrainian families from September to December. In fact, Ukrainian students will be granted «the minimum rate of 1,20 euros per meal» for this period.

The pre and after school care

The Council has also adopted the same measures for pre and after-school care. Once more, Ukrainian children will be granted the «the minimum fee of 100 euros for pre-school care and 150 euros for after school care». This confirms the discount of 20% to the fee «for each user (from the second) within the same family, for the same school year». But also «on the second fee of the same user, if both services are used». This too applies for the period from September to December.
