LEGNANO – Once more some polluting discharges have been reported in the Olona river. On September 23 at 6.30 pm in Legnano by the Liberty Bridge in Corso Matteotti the river was covered with large iridescent patches of oily consistency. The Amici dell’Olona association reported it and documented it with photos (like the one above) and videos.
«Around 7 pm our friend Abraham inspected the river from Marnate to Castellanza and found no traces of pollution. But at 7.30 pm in the area of the station of the carabinieri of Legnano on the surface of the river some dark spots were flowing. Because it was already dark, the spots did not show particular colours, as you can on the other hand see from the images published on our social page.
At 7.45 pm by the bridge in Matteotti street there were still large dark spots. Considering the temporal succession and the fact that in Castellanza by the bridge in via dei Mulini, a few hundred metres from Legnano, such pollution did not appear, we can deduct that the introduction of probably oily substances occurred in the downstream section and up to the Matteotti street di Legnano».
