BUSTO ARSIZIO – The flight of a magpie, the Def and Corrado II the Salico were among the questions of the admission test of Medicine and Dentistry of the University of Insubria, which took place on September 6. There were 1547 students, out of 1628 enrolled. The candidates of the territory attended the test in the two locations of Malpensa Fiere in Busto Arsizio (789) and Lario Fiere in Erba (758). Among the more than 65 thousand aspiring doctors in Italy, the 149 places available for the single cycle master’s degree in Medicine and Surgery and the 20 places for the one in Dentistry and Dental Prosthesis are “at stake”.
The test at Malpensa Fiere
There were 789 aspiring doctors at Malpensa Fiere, for the 2022-2023 national admission test for candidates from the provinces of Varese, Como, Lecco and Monza Brianza. The test began at 1 pm, both in the exhibition centre bustocco and in its “twin” of Erba. The coordination team of the University of Insubria, composed of about 50 technical and administrative staff members and 27 teachers, including the president of the School of Medicine, Alberto Passi, the past president Giulio Carcano, and the director of the Department of Medicine and Surgery, Luigina Guasti, were there.
The questions
Candidates had 100 minutes to answer 60 questions testing reading skills, logical reasoning, biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics. Among the scientific topics touched by the test: Darwin’s theory of natural selection, progesterone, Agu nucleotides, DNA denaturation cycles, the Cftr gene. Then some requests for calculation, for example the one on the magpie that flies horizontally at a certain speed and drops a coin from the beak, which touches the ground at a certain speed: at what height does the magpie fly? Among the general culture questions, the invitation to indicate the meaning of Def (Document of economy and finance) and to frame a text as a travel diary, historical novel, sonnet, epic poem or journalistic chronicle. And the historical question, taken from a manual by Massimo Salvadori was: “What was the objective of the Constitutio de feudis, or Edictum de Beneficiis, the edict issued in 1037 by Emperor Conrad II the Salian?”
The results
On September 14, the Ministry of Universities and Research will publish the anonymous score of each candidate in the online area on Universitaly. On September 23 each candidate will be able to view their exam, while the nominative ranking will be known on September 29. All over Italy there are 65,378 aspiring doctors and 15,876 places available. For the University of Insubria there are 149 places for the single cycle Master’s degree in Medicine and Surgery and 20 for that in Dentistry and dental prosthetics.
The next test
The next admission test is for the one for the three-year degree courses of the Health Professions, which will be held on September 15 in a single test at Lario Fiere: there are 491 students enrolled. The places available for nursing are 75 in Varese and 74 in Como. For the other courses, all based in Varese: 20 for Obstetrics, 38 for Physiotherapy, 60 for Professional Education, 20 for Dental Hygiene, 15 for Techniques of Cardiovascular Physiopathology and Cardiovascular Perfusion, 20 for Biomedical Laboratory Techniques, 20 for medical radiology techniques, imaging and radiotherapy. The rankings will be published on September 23 on www.uninsubria.it.
